July 4th

As soon as having packed all things into our own bag, we took careful steps out of the battle field with mixed feeling of excitement and miss of memories. We exchanged fainted smiles at each other and gave a big sigh. This is it, it’s the end, it’s been years. It was July 4th. Coincidence to July 4th The Independence Day of the United States of America. But it was our last day of academic battle. After having handed in our paper of the last test, we felt such a great relief from all hard times, especially the last year when we encountered two stressful things practicum and Applied Linguistics. I remembered we all did not wear uniform on that last day of the test. We put on clothes as if we came to hang out instead of coming to take exam. Hang out, of course, that’s what we intended to do. We (molie, nory, paul, thy, ven, hour, tro and me), after the test, went out for our first formal dinner in an Italian restaurant…oh could tell what we ate there. Spaghetti! It was Thy’s idea. The atmosphere was a bit formal and awkward; I guess maybe it was our first real Italian place. Yet, no matter what the atmosphere was, altogether we managed to light it up by acting normally: talk, laugh, and taking pictures. After taking the girls back home, it was the boys time going to River House to dance dance dance until almost 12 mid-night. We slept over at Ven’s home, thanks to his family for great preparation. That night we fought another battle, playing card…lolz. I guessed we should have an open-heart talk like we often did instead…sounds so gay hearing grown-up boys having open-heart talk right? Well… eight of us have a habit of revealing individual secrets about things, when on trip.

A year later, July 4th was a normal Saturday gathering that not all of us meet. Tro, Hour and I are thousands miles away. I guess three of us had different things to do on that day. As for me, I went to a house-warming party in the afternoon, and watched firework.
